I had an email from Leicestershire County Council Data Protection team .
I put a SAR request in to the LA just over a month ago to get documentation from the Community finances team due to the fact they had breached the Data Protection act once in the last few months and another Department within the LA had done the same resulting in two Data Protection breaches
In a year.
The email stated that they wanted me to sign up to a site that the LA have developed so that Service users and others can get copies of the data from the site.
There is no way that I would even consider signing up for the site due to the fact that it would be giving them more Data to breach .
I have also asked for my bank details to be removed from the system .
I am My Husbands full time Carer and I filled an online form in with regards to getting a one off payment to help me get something respite a few days away a rest from my full time caring duty due to myself having long term serious medical conditions.
With the two data protection breaches within a year I requested that my bank data could be removed in the fear that there would be a third data protection breach which would compromise
My bank account.
The LA stated that they would keep the details for 7 years and would not delete the requested information.
I spoke to Somebody from the team this am and was told that there was nothing they could do.
I told them that they needed my permission for the data to remain on file.
It now looks like I will have to get the Information Commissioner to investigate.
The rather disgruntled man that I was speaking to this am would not let me get a word in on the telephone and seemed to be very patronising .
So I have requested all documents to be sent by recorded delivery mail as I would not be giving them anymore personal information to breach by signing up to their grotty site.
